Personality & Traits
General Overview | General overview – born of young parents not ready or with the resources to be parents when Ralph came along. His mother was only 15 when she got pregnant, and her parents were mortified. They had hopes to marry her to someone a little higher in station, Hyacinth being a local beauty. They had NOT envisioned Freddy the farmhand. But Hyacinth followed her heart and they left for a new village where no one knew them, married alone with just witnesses prior. Things seemed to be working out for the first decade or so until one night Freddy just upped and left. Thrown into turmoil and with hungry mouths to feed Hyacinth took the decision to try get her eldest son work at one of the influential families. Seeing his potential and/or taking pity, the head butler of the Sunderland family Edgar Browning decided to take a chance on the boy managing to convince the family to allow him a starting position as a hall boy with hopes to train him up as a footman perhaps one day. The young man worked hard sending the majority of his wages to his mother determined for a better future for his younger sister. It was too late for him to help his younger brother much as they later found out their father had racked up debts; he had kept from his mother. Faced with loosing their home Roger had to find work too and he did at one of the local farms taking his father’s place left behind. Having a work ethic, determined not to turn out anything like his father Ralph worked hard and Edgar decided to take him under his wing training him as a butler. He even learnt to read and write decently under his tutorial. |
